Charlene Heinzman
Past President
I have been teaching for 10 years and teach levels 1-AP, like so many of us. I started my career at Northwestern High School in Kokomo and was there for 8 years. In that time I grew the program to expand to the middle school and include AP. I also introduced a GAPP exchange with Oldenburg in Niedersachsen. I then moved to Westfield High School where I have grown the program to include an honors track starting in levels 2 and 3 and adding a level 4 and AP. My GAPP exchange came with me and I am excited to continue that long term relationship. I am passionate about offering and attending professional development and continuing to grow and get better with time.
On a personal note, I am a wife and mom of 2 boys. Keaton is 9 as of January 2026 and Kellen is 5. Keaton actually gets to go on my exchanges with me every other year and we love to travel together as a family. We love the water and getting to do boat rides on Morse Reservoir around the corner from our home. Other than that, our lives revolve around Taekwondo (Keaton is a 2nd degree black belt and Kellen is a ninja black belt), and music (my husband is the music director at our church, sings in 2 bands, does recording, and Keaton takes bass and guitar lessons).
Please reach out to my anytime for any needs that you have whether it is professional development, needing help advocating for your program, or just wanting a friend to talk to (In German or in English), don't hesitate to contact me. My best email is charlene.becker7@gmail.com
