Jen William is a Professor of German and Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs in the College of Liberal Arts at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN. Before moving into her current role on January 1st, she had served as the Head of the School of Languages and Cultures at Purdue for 8 years. Her teaching and research interests lie especially in the areas of 20th and 21st century film and literature, and she is in her second year as coeditor of The German Quarterly, along with Muriel Cormican.
Amelia Shaw has been teaching in Indiana public schools for 14 years, the past 8 years as the German teacher at Columbus North and Columbus East High Schools in Columbus, Indiana. Since she took over the program in 2018, enrollment has doubled. She facilitates the exchange program with Columbus’ sister city, Löhne, in Nordrhein-Westfalen, a partnership that began over 35 years ago. She leads German clubs at both high schools and organizes an annual food booth at Columbus’ Ethnic Expo food festival. Amelia has offered dual credit courses through IU’s ACP program since 2021. In the summer of 2025, she was a Lily Grant Recipient and spent the summer in Southern Germany and Austria, hiking and taking a watercolor painting class. She enjoys getting students excited about language learning and building a tight-knit classroom community.
